There are so many new suburbs, both in Canberra and just over the border, that you could buy a block or house and land package. However, are you buying in the right suburb for you?

Here is a quick snapshot of what is being planned for Thorsby, Moncrieff and Denman Prospect to help you decided which suburbs best suits your lifestyle.

Are you the family type?

Perhaps you already have a family, or you’ve at least got it set in your sights; then the new suburb of Throsby is where you want to be looking to buy a home. As Gungahlin’s newest residential suburb, Throsby is close to all the conveniences and desires of a young family.

The suburb is surrounded by nature and wide open spaces. It borders Mulligans Flat and Goorooyaroo Nature Reserves and is full of playgrounds, walking and cycling paths, making it perfect for a growing and active family. There’s also a community development called Mingle, which provides residents with events to help you get to know your neighbours and community.

Also ideal is the nearby schooling options for all stages of your child’s education. You’ve got a choice of Harrison School, Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School, Harrison Early Childhood Centre, Franklin Early Childhood School, Gungahlin College, Burgmann Anglican School and the upcoming Learning Centre in Thorsby.

Throsby is a mere 2.5kms from the heart of the Gungahlin Town Centre. Making it a short walk and an even shorter bike or car ride way from catching up with friends, entertaining the kids or conveniently getting all of your groceries sorted in just one spot. Plus, it’s got a brand-new Kmart!

Do you enjoy the simple things?

We recommend taking a look at the new suburb of Moncrieff. Situated in North Gungahlin, Moncrieff is spoilt with rolling hilltops and ridges creating a suburban sanctuary for its residents.

Ponds will also be located throughout the estate, which will also include views of the wide open spaces between Jacka and Taylor. Imagine cooking a summer BBQ in your backyard or on your balcony as you watch the sun set over the ridge and the ducks swim in the pond. Picturesque, right? And with the thriving Gungahlin Town Centre within reach, you’ll never have to venture far from your little piece of Gungahlin paradise.

Also, perfect for a family home, Moncrieff will boast community facilities, parks, playgrounds and a group centre.

Do you love the outdoors?

Denman Prospect might just be the suburb for you. Located in the popular Molonglo Valley, Denman Prospect is perfect for those who love a little adventure. With the National Arboretum and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve at your doorstep, you’re never short of a trail to hike or mountain bike in this suburb. It’s also located within a 10-minute drive to the Cotter Reserve, so there’s always an excuse to pack a picnic, some fishing rods, swimmers and a pair walking boots and cruise down for an adventurous escapade.

Stromlo Forest Park is also in the neighbourhood, offering a range of outdoor activities including a bike park, equestrian trails, cross country running, criterion circuit and a swimming pool, which is due for completion in 2019.

A local shopping district is in close sight for Denman Prospect, looking to be completed in 2017. Plus, for the four-legged members of the family, there is a planned off-leash dog park for Weston Creek.

But the best part? You’re no more than 10 minutes from the City, Belconnen, Woden, Manuka and Kingston. It really is one of Canberra’s ultimate locations.
